Lab 1
- Find your partner for program 1. Go to https://users.soe.ucsc.edu/~charlie/programmingPartners/ to find your partner. Login is your ucsc user name (the part of your email address before the @ucsc.edu) and the password is your UCSC BLUE password.
- Spend the first 15 minutes completing the "Personal Values" exercise below.
- Submit your writing by directly entering or pasting into the text box for this lab.
- With your partner, begin working on program 1.
- Go to CrowdGrader, click on the "Edit Group Membership" link and enter your partner's email address in "Collaborators" field. You BOTH need to do this to complete the pair formation.
- If you complete program 1, submit it in CrowdGrader. Even if you don't finish it, submit what you have. It is both good to make sure you know and and good so you have turned in something.
- If you didn't finish it, make arrangements with your partner to meet and finish it before the due date.
Personal Values
This exercise was pioneered by a U. CO psychology instructor – we use it to get
you thinking about your own priorities; it is graded submitted/notsubmitted. [That
means, we will not evaluate what you say, only if you made a sincere effort to do the
exercise. The 5 points will be added to the homework portion of your grade.]
Exercise: Think about the things that are important to you. Perhaps you care about
being creative; maybe close family relationships matter a lot to you; perhaps you want to
make a contribution to society and count that as most important; or maybe you think it is
essential to have a sense of humor. What matters most to you?
Pick two or three of these values and write about why they are important to you. You
have at least fifteen minutes, so give it serious thought.
Use the text box in Canvas to enter your writing. No formatting please, just plain text.
